It seems sad in some ways to leave the 1and1 Dual Unlimited hosting account I have been working with for the past years. Yet, the problems with 1and1 hosting have been mounting and I am very excited about the future with DigitalOcean VPS cloud hosting. I am running Ubuntu 12.10 on a VPS cloud server with 512MB of RAM and 20GB of disk space. Digital Ocean has just switched to SSD drives and I am getting full root access to my server at $5.00 per month with 1TB transfer. I even found a $20.00 coupon$20.00 coupon so I have the first 4 months free! This post will be updated as I make the switch from 1and1 to DigitalOcean.

Migrating from Joomla 1.5.xx to 2.5.x

So my latest project has been to upgrade my own website from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 2.5. The jUpgrade component did a great job of moving everything over, but it made a mess of my links. Here is what I did to fix it.
