When my friend Joel Martin asked me to partner with him to sell bulk food online to outdoor enthusiasts, I never dreamed that this would open the door to me learning to design, setup, and operate my own website, but here I am today! Our online store Backpack & Camping Trail Food is powered by Stores Online and was my first experience with any kind of website. Kevin Shenk who is another friend of mine is big on open source software and projects and introduced me to the Joomla! open source Content Management System (CMS). I have found that it is very effective, simple, and easy to use for building websites. This website is set up using it, as well as an another online store of mine, Wood Print Frames with a system powered by the open source Virtue Mart shopping cart.

Chet Kings Electrical is a business that I started as an electrician in 2004. It has served me largely as a summer job between school terms, as well as providing services on occassional evenings or weekends. A website is being built at www.chetkingselectrical.com.

Business Ventures

Over the years I have become interested in various business ventures.

As a teacher at Shade Mountain Christian School I saw the opportunity to work during the summer as an electrician. Supposing that it would be easier to set my own part-time schedule by owning the business myself I started Chet Kings Electrical. Neighbors, friends, relatives, and local contractors all provided work for me and it became a very enjoyable occupation.

As I was nearing the end of a two-year term at Bald Eagle Boys Camp in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania my good friend, Joel Martin called me one day and asked if I would be interested in joining him in a new venture selling backpacking food. I thought and prayed about it for a time, then decided that I would be interested. In the following months and year we worked together using the Stores Online Pro package to design, promote, and advertise our new business, Backpack & Camping Trail Food.

As a result of my venture into ecommerce marketing, early in the summer of 2009 I started working on a website for my uncle who manufactured beautiful print frames. Currently I am planning to market and sell the frames for him as Wood Print Frames by Chet Kings Ventures.

As I continue to learn more about the business of web site building and marketing I launch into yet another venture. Perhaps you have an idea of some kind of website you would like to create.
